Vote YES on Issue 25!
Oregon Ohio - Limit Data Center Size
A "YES" vote amends our city charter to prohibit the construction of any data center used for digital data processing with an aggregate monthly demand or peak load greater than 25 megawatts, regardless of energy source.
Vote Yes on Issue 25 Oregon Ohio gives residents a voice in our city’s future. It lets voters—not politicians or corporations—decide whether a hyperscale data center belongs in our community.
What would the proposed charter amendment do?
A YES vote would limit future data centers to 25 megawatts. That size uses about as much power as 15,000 homes and typically requires about seven acres and one 100,000-square-foot building. The limit allows reasonable development while reducing impacts on residents, electricity costs, and the environment. The developer has publicly stated he will not build a smaller data center in Oregon should Issue 25 pass.
Why is this charter amendment necessary?
Issue 25 protects Oregon before massive data centers reshape our community. Without clear limits, they could crowd neighborhoods, strain resources, and change the place we call home. Communities near Columbus show how one data center can quickly lead to another. A YES vote sets reasonable boundaries, protects neighborhoods, and keeps Oregon’s future in residents’ hands.
